Men's Ministry

A Call to Arms

When war breaks out, a call is made to all men to take up arms. War is not a place for women and children. It is the men who are called to defend the weak and helpless. The bible tells us that there is a terrible war going on in which the fighting is brutal, the stakes are high and the casualties are staggering. However this war is not what we might imagine it to be. It is not the war we see in the Middle East, but a war far more terrifying. It is a war with the powers of darkness. It is a war against sin and Satan. And in this war, it is the men who are called to take up leadership, to be courageous and to be prepared to lay down their lives in the service and defence of others. Men's ministry is about calling upon men to be the man that God has called them to be.

Why Men’s ministry?

Because men’s ministry is never just a ministry to men. It is ultimately a ministry to leaders.  For this reason men are strategic. Transform the men and you affect everyone else. Transform men and you can transform whole households, the church and the world.. For this reason building strong godly Christ like men is a strategic and key ministry for the health and well being of our families, our church and of our community.

The problem with men!

Why do we need a men’s ministry? Men are busy with work, with their sports and with their family. Often time they have little to time to stop and reflect on the big questions of life. A men’s ministry is an opportunity to keep putting the important issues on to the man’s agenda.

A man's program

What's on the program
The Annual Men’s Katoomba Convention where 4000 men gather to be challenged by God's word to be God's man

Men's days out. This is an opportunity for men to get out and do what men love doing. hitting a ball. racing around a track. Climbing up cliffs, etc etc.

Three Men’s dinner - this is an opportunity for men to stop and think about life, work, money and relationships

Turning a conversation to the gospel

E-mail Print PDF

Evangelism is hard work and terrifying. While Jesus tells us that would should not expect anything other, nevertheless surely there must be an easier way to share the gospel to others. While the good news is that while you are being crucified for the gospel, there nevertheless is still an easier (not a painfree) way of sharing the gospel

We need to realise that most evangelistic opportunities take place in the context of a conversation. So how do you turn a conversation to the gospel?

Here are some basic tips:

1. Pray for opportunities

2. Give a live answer

3. Ask a Good question

4. Bite the  bullet and go for it

5. Pray

There it is, nothing to it. However just more  thing to say, and that is that no technique, no program, no punching the air will ever solve the one problem inherent in evangelism ie Fear. No matter what we can do, it is a scary thing. The only way to avoid is either not to preach the gospel or else to change the gospel so that's it no scary. We can do this and make life easy for us, but tragically others will have to be confronted with something more terrifying than is imaginable ie the fear of God.
